Initially, we planned to meet only by spree. As two young exchange students in Europe, one in Ireland and the other in Germany, we could not pass up the opportunity to hang out at least a few days of party that attracts the most visitors of the world. It would be just another event with much (too much!) beer, except for the fact that we’re looking foward to report our descriptions and impressions of this event that is already organized by the 177th time.
Follow, starting today, posts with text, photos, videos (and feelings!) about various aspects of this huge festival. Of those who work backstage, passing trough the typical German beer, the various profiles of visitors, our visits to the amusement park and the trendy camping we are staying. We plan to write easy and informal texts.

For the beginning, a soft political, historical, socio-economical and geographical introdution that pretends, nevertheless, not to be boring. The Oktoberfest, which starts in September, was celebrated for the first time in 18 ... WAIT A MOMENT! Oktoberfest in September? What would be the logic of that?
In 1810, the Prince Ludwig and Princess Theresa got married. In commemoration, was organized a party with a horse race on the 12th October. The success was such that this achievement was repeated in subsequent years and has grew. The date of the festival also coincides with the celebration of "Herbstfeste" and its importance was greatly influenced by this fact. The "Herbst" are the festivals that celebrate the beginning of autumn and a new station for the manufacture of beer! Previously, during the warmest period of the year, the brewing of beer was banned at high risk of fire. As there was no refrigerator to store drinks, people had to make a beer that could endure for months. But that's another story to be told later... The fact is that a new season for the manufacture of beer begins exactly at this time. The biggest party in Germany must be linked with Bier, isnt it? So, the party that started in October was growing toward the most pleasant days of summer and therefore invaded September. Logical right? After all, beer becomes better the hotter it is.
